1,100 foot long boardwalk is located on the Coos
Bay waterfront along Highway 101.
It includes three interpretive pavilions,
viewing platforms and a walk path.
Lighting and landscaping are also an important
part of this project.
Extensive coordination with the Corps of
Engineers, Public Works, Oregon Department of Transportation
and Southern Pacific Railroad was necessary to successfully
plan for the pedestrian crosswalks for Highway 101
and the railroad tracks.
Although not included with the completed
construction, the design included a complete design
for a plaza area between North and South 101.
The City of Coos Bay has accepted this “Central
Plaza” plan and is moving toward its execution.
