Mt. Hood, Oregon

Crow/Clay & Associates Inc. had the honor of recently working on one of Oregon’s most beloved buildings, Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. The lodge was constructed in the 1930’s by the WPA, and is currently listed on the National Historic Register. Crow/Clay & Associates Inc.’s renovation designs include work to bring the lodge up to the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards, a new Wine Room/Banquet Room in the Lodge’s basement, and reconstruction of the west entryway vestibule. Several new lifts and ramps will be installed to provide access to balcony levels, the pool, and dining room, and nine hotel guestrooms and toilet rooms will be renovated for accessibility.

Crow/Clay & Associates Inc. was selected for the project with the top rating for preservation among the competitive candidate pool. The design process included the coordination of numerous varied interests including the Forest Service’s Engineering, Accessibility, Contracting and Preservation specialists, the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office, the hotel management group that leases the building, the Friends of Timberline Lodge organization, and the general public. Crow/Clay & Associates Inc. synthesized the varied interests of the constituencies and provided a design that has been lauded by all out of what had the potential to be a very acrimonious project.
