Loreta, California

This 3,665 S.F. one story, wood frame building overlooking the southern end of Humboldt Bay acts as a large “living room” for the Wiyot Tribe on the Table Bluff Reservation. With wood floors, wood ceilings, exposed trusses, a fireplace and large windows, the building has a very homey atmosphere. The facility houses offices, reception area, storage, health services and counseling center, kitchen, library, tribal archives area, restrooms and a multi-purpose room. The openness of the site and its panoramic view also allowed the design to incorporate a number of passive solar elements.
