The Mill Casino*Hotel retained Crow/Clay & Associates Inc. to complete a large scale expansion and renovation project. The expansion included a new bar/entertainment area, additional gaming spaces which included more slots space, a larger non-smoking slot area, a non-smoking lounge, a poker room, a high limit slot area, and a seven story hotel tower with 92 rooms and additional breakout rooms to augment the conference facilities. This recent expansion and renovation included remodeling of many of the interior spaces and a facade facelift for the exterior of the facility.
Crow/Clay & Associates Inc. is the Architect of Record for The Mill Casino’s original construction in 1995. The project was the conversion of a former plywood mill into an Indian Casino.
The recently completed complex includes a full service restaurant, a buffet, a snack bar, a gift shop and several lounges. Restrooms, beverage stations and the cashier area with a mantrap complete the gaming area layout. A large covered area adjacent to the main entry was converted into covered valet.
“Back of the house” includes offices, security, surveillance, slot repair, staff lockers and restrooms, staff break room, operations, mechanical and electrical rooms, a vault and a count room.
The mechanical systems for the Casino are hydronic terminal units with a remote boiler and air handler units set to run with 100% outside air. Additional exhaust fans have been added directly over the gaming floor to help evacuate smoke from the environment. The hotel rooms are also heated and cooled hydronically.
The character of the original building was retained and reinforced by “The Mill” theme. Interior design includes uplighted bow string trusses, mill equipment displays, large photos displaying logging history and peeled log columns throughout the facility.
Crow/Clay & Associates Inc. has been retained many times from 1995 to present to work on a variety of expansion and remodel projects for the Casino. A large meeting area was recently commissioned to allow flexibility for meetings and concerts. Good acoustic quality for the room was a programming requirement and the final design provided a room which exceeded The Mill’s expectations.
