The Choshi Bridge celebrates the City of Coos Bay’s relationship with her sister city Choshi in Japan and is the centerpiece of Mingus Park close to downtown Coos Bay. Over the years the wet coastal climate had taken its toll on the original wood structure. The City of Coos Bay charged Crow/Clay & Associates Inc. with replacing the bridge with a structure that is more resilient to the climate and with significant longevity, but exactly replicating the original design.
