Astoria, Oregon
As a prominent landmark at the mouth of the Columbia River, in Astoria, Oregon, this eight-story, National Register property, the John Jacob Astor Hotel, has undergone a complete renovation and restoration in a phased process. Early phases involved conversion of the original hotel rooms into 66 apartment units for the elderly as well as a complete exterior rehabilitation of the building. Provisions were also made during these phases to preserve the historic fabric of the ground floor which is planned for retail and commercial use in future phases of the project.
